Q. Recommended Dual Plate Check Valve Installation Distance
Taiwan Valve Centre Co., Ltd. are the experienced manufacturers of dual check valves in Taiwan.
The suitable distance for installing a dual plate check valve depends on various factors, such as the valve's particular design, the flow characteristics of the system, and the existence of other components, like pumps, elbows, or other valves.
TVCCL suggests the following distance for installing a dual plate check valve.
From Pumps:
If the dual plate non-return valve is fitted downstream of a pump, it is advisable to maintain a separation of 6 to 8 times the pipe diameter between the pump discharge and the non-return valve. This aids in stabilising the flow and making it more laminar, thereby guaranteeing proper operation of the valve and reducing the chance of cavitation.
Before Elbows or Bends:
If the dual plate check valve is placed near a bend or other flow disturbance, we still advisable to have a gap of 6 to 8 pipe diameters between the valve and the disturbance. This will help to reduce turbulent flow, which can affect the valve's efficiency.
From Other Valves:
If the double disc check valve is installed near other valves, such as a butterfly or gate valve, it is recommended to ensure that there is sufficient distance between them to enable each valve to operate without interference. The suggested distance may vary depending on the specific application and valve sizes, but it should be installed at least 6 pipe diameters apart.
From Flow Meters or Instruments:
If the system includes flow meters or other instruments, it's crucial to maintain a stable flow profile to obtain accurate readings. Before and after the instrument, a distance of 6 to 8 pipe diameters is often recommended.
However, these are just general guidelines, and the optimal installation distance can vary depending on valve design, operating conditions, and other factors.
With our extensive experience in valve manufacturing, following our recommendations will enhance durability.
